Former DDB Los Angeles President Nick Bishop asked me to create the brand identity, packaging and in-store signage for his new restaurant the Aussie Pie Kitchen. APK creates gourmet “Australian style” savory meat and vegetable pies with a new gourmet twist. The challenge was to come up with a brand identity that had a “retro charm” but communicated quickly to consumers that the pies APK serves are not American “fruit based” pies. I’m happy to report it’s working. Nick just opened two new locations.
